AFP just warning Liza, Catriona about Left

MANILA – The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) merely warned actress Liza Soberano and 2018 Miss Universe Catriona Gray that their advocacies might be used by the Left-leaning groups, and did not red-tag them.

In a TV interview, AFP South Command chief, Lt. Gen. Antonio Parlade Jr. denied he red-tagged Soberano and merely advised her to “abdicate” her ties to Gabriela Youth. He said subsequent media statements took his statement of context.

Parlade made his advice after Soberano participated in a webinar organized by Gabriela Youth and tearfully called on fellow influencers to speak up on issues affecting women and children. He said the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) also issued the same advice to Catriona Gray.

Presidential spokesperson, Secretary Garry Roque said the AFP merely cautioned the two ladies “they may be used by the Left),” and that the military “understands that Soberano and Gray were just advocating the rights of women and children.”

Roque said like Soberano and Gray, President Duterte also supports the rights of women even when he was mayor of Davao City for over two decades.
