The Department of Education (DepEd) said 98.37 percent of its target learners have already enrolled for the 2020-21 school year, which opens on October 5.
DepEd’s data show that 24,265,048 learners have already enrolled in private and public schools nationwide as of September 7. The figure is 98.37% of the 27,770,263 enrollees target, the same number of learners enrolled in the previous academic year.
Of the total number of this year’s enrollees, 22,205,805 are in public schools while 2,009,025 are private schools. DepEd’s records also show that 398,915 students have transferred from private schools to public schools.
Records likewise show that of the total number of transferees, 244,117 are elementary students, 106,143 are junior high school students, 42,058 are senior high school students, and 6,597 are learners with disabilities.
