Gapan City employees asked to go on quarantine vacation

GAPAN CITY Mayor Emerson Pascual of this Nueva Ecija city, has urged all their city hall workers to quarantine and isolate themselves from their families after one of his department head tested positive for Covid-19 infection last Tuesday.

Pascual also ordered the city hall closed for five days for the desired disinfection. He announced the suspension of transaction with the city government after a department head tested positive for Covid-19 infection in a rapid PCR swab test .

The Gapan City government will resume operation on Monday, August 24. The suspension also covers the Bakuna Day (immunization activity) in various barangay health centers.

He urged all city hall employees to voluntarily isolate themselves from their family members and other people to prevent further infections,

Pascual also disclosed three of the 17 employees of an electric cooperative who earlier tested positive for the virus are residents of this city, one of whom had died. The city government continues strict implementation of the mandatory wearing of face mask and face shield in public, physical distancing, and the ban on tricycle back riding.

He said 54 people were recently arrested and fined P2,500 each for not wearing a face mask. Smoking is also prohibited in public places and a liquor ban is in effect in the city.

Gapan is one of five cities in Nueva Ecija. The four others are Cabanatuan City, Palayan City (provincial capital, San Jose City and the Science City of Munoz, the second such city in Asia. The other is in Japan.
