DSWD supports Masbate quake victims with food, cash

LEGAZPI CITY – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Bicol regional office here will shortly release family food packs and financial assistance to the Masbate quake victims through their local government units LGUs).

DSWD-Bicol spokesperson, Marygizelle Mesa said at least 2,000 family food packs are now ready for transport to the tremor-hit province.

“We are also preparing to send 10 tents and 10 rolls of laminated sacks for Cataingan, and will be provision of financial help for  individuals in crisis situation (AICS),” she shared. Burial aid for casualties will be P10,000 per victim, while medical assistance will be up to P10,000 which can be used for hospital bills or buy medicines needed by injury victims.

Mesa said a cash assistance of P3,000 will also be provided to families whose houses sustained partial damage, and P5,000 to those whose houses were severely destroyed.

Masbate and other parts of Bicol and the Visayas experienced up to 6.6 magnitude jolts last Tuesday morning.
